Checklist of administrator tasks on Linux and UNIX systems

Post-installation tasks for administrators on Linux™ and UNIX™ systems are required to configure HCL Compass server and client components hosted on these platforms.

Depending on which HCL Compass components are installed and configured, Linux and UNIX systems can provide these HCL Compass services:
  • Administer and run the HCL Compass Web server and web application to provide access to HCL Compass repositories through a web-based interface.
  • Administer a HCL Compass MultiSite environment.
  • Provide access to the HCL Compass Client for users who work solely on Linux and UNIX system platforms.
  • Integrate with HCL VersionVault, both base and UCM versions.
Note: You can also host the database management systems for your HCL Compass deployment on the Linux and UNIX platform. For more information, see Plan your HCL Compass database set architecture.
On a Linux or UNIX host, you can administer only HCL Compass MultiSite and HCL Compass Web server and web application. You must administer other HCL Compass components such as HCL Compass Administrative Tools and the HCL Compass Designer from the Windows™ administrative host.

Depending on HCL Compass services that the Linux or UNIX host is providing, complete the tasks in Required and optional post-installation tasks for the HCL Compass administrator.
