Checklist of user tasks on Linux and UNIX system

Before you can use a HCL Compass client, you must complete several post-installation tasks. These tasks vary based on the HCL Compass client you want to use.

Before you configure the HCL Compass client for your local system, gather the following information from the System Administrator for your HCL Compass environment:
  • User ID and password credentials for the HCL Compass client you plan to use
  • Confirmation that the HCL Compass client is deployed in your environment
  • A valid license for running the HCL Compass client

All Linux installations require you to install a browser and configure the HOME and PATH variables before you can start the client. Set the MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME environment variable to the browser path, and then add the browser path to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. Use these sample commands as a guideline, substituting your browser installation location (/bin/csh):

setenv MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME /usr/local/lib/firefox-2.0.0.3
