Testing a new language within the programming environment

Verify that the language is available for the store by verify that you can switch languages in Management Center Store preview and view the text in the new language.

Procedure

  1. Open the Catalogs tool.
  2. Update your catalog to include names and descriptions in the new language for your catalogs, categories, products, SKUs, and attributes.
    To change the input language for adding language-specific names, descriptions, or other content, complete the following steps:
    1. Go to the properties view for the object you want to change the input language for.
    2. From the toolbar, click Select input language.
      Tip: If the selected store supports only one language, Select input language is disabled. You can only define input languages when the selected store supports more than one language.
    3. Select the language that you use to input information (in addition to the default language) for the selected object.
    4. Click OK.
  3. Launch Store preview.
  4. Click Show details in the preview.
    You can see 'Pending changes in your workspace are being indexed. Updates should be available soon'. If you see this message, click Refresh status one time every 5 minutes until you see 'The search index is up to date'. The search index is built every 5 minutes. You need to wait for the index to rebuild before you can see the changes.
  5. Click Language/Currency and change the value for the Language setting to be your new store language. Languages are displayed in the menu.
    For example, select the language "Dutch (Nederlands)".
  6. Browse, your store to verify that the update catalog objects display text for the names and languages in the selected language.
