        Migrating your development database
        To migrate your development database from Feature Pack 6 to HCL Commerce Version 9.1, you must first prepare your Feature Pack 6 development database and your HCL Commerce Version 9.1 development environment. Next, you run the migration utility to migrate your Feature Pack 6 development database to HCL Commerce Version 9.1, then run the updatedb utility to bring your database up to the HCL Commerce Version 9.1 level.
        Migrating Assets tool assets

        If you are migrating from WebSphere Commerce Version 7 with legacy WebSphere Commerce Accelerator-based marketing, your implementation must be updated to the web service Management Center-based marketing for use on HCL Commerce Version 9.1.
        Migrating customized struts assets
        HCL Commerce Version 9 uses Apache Struts 2 as the preferred platform for developing enterprise Java web applications. Struts 2 provides plugin support for REST and Spring, which are important components of the HCL Commerce platform. It is also designed for more streamlined development and is fully integrated with the HCL Commerce deployment pipeline.

        Migrating EJB entity beans to Java Persistence API
        Enterprise Java Entity Beans are no longer supported in HCL Commerce Version 9. By using a combination of tools and manual steps, you can migrate your EJB 1.1 entity beans to JPA, and update your code to use HCL Commerce Version 9 APIs.

HCL Commerce Version 9.1.8.0 or later

Migrating IBM Websphere Commerce Version 7 Feature Pack 6 assets for the Assets tool

After the reintroduction of the Assets tool in Management Center for HCL Commerce with HCL Commerce version 9.1.8.0, you can migrate your IBM Websphere Commerce Version 7 Feature Pack 6 assets, and ensure that your Assets tool configuration is correct, to continue using the tool in HCL Commerce Version 9.1 environments.

Before you begin

Ensure that your migrated assets tool configuration is updated or set for use with the Assets tool in HCL Commerce Version 9.1. This was covered earlier in the migration process in the topic Migrating IBM Websphere Commerce Version 7 Feature Pack 6 configuration files.
Ensure that your existing environments do not have pending scheduled jobs for persisting managed files, and that all managed files are already persisted on the file system.

Procedure

Migrate your existing assets from your old environments into your new environments.

Simply copy the files from your old WebSphere Commerce persisted storage into their new persisted storage location.

Results

Your HCL Commerce development environment site now contains all of the same files from your migrated WebSphere Commerce installation.
