Loading variant data using the Management Center

The Category Manager or Product Manager can use the Catalog Upload feature in the Catalogs tool to upload product variants.

Procedure

  1. Get sample data from utility docker:
    • /opt/WebSphere/CommerceServer90/samples/DataLoad/Catalog/Variant/CatalogEntries-variant.csv
  2. Log on to the Management Center.
  3. Open the Catalogs tool.
  4. From the toolbar, click the Create New icon; then select Catalog Upload.
  5. In the New Catalog Upload page:
    1. Browse for the file to upload: CatalogEntries-variant.csv
    2. Select the file encoding: UTF-8
    3. Select Target catalog: Extended Sites Catalog Asset Store
  6. Click Save and Close. After you upload the file, the server uploads the data into the catalog. The total time for the upload to complete depends on how much data you are uploading.
  7. Wait until the status changes to 'Complete.' If the process did not succeed, the status will show 'Failed.'

What to do next

The data file CatalogEntries-variant.csv is used to create variants and associate the variants with the defining attribute.

The data file CatalogEntryRelationship-variant-item.csv is used to to manage the variant-item relationship after a variant is created. For example, it is used when you move an item from one variant to another variant.
