Prerequisites for HCL Commerce and IBM Cloud Private

Review the following prerequisite before you begin setting up your HCL Commerce environment with IBM Cloud Private (ICP).

Important:

Starting from HCL Commerce Version 9.1, HCL Commerce does not provide IBM Cloud Private offline package as part of the provided eAssemblies. However, HCL Commerce can still be deployed on ICP by treating ICP as a kind of Kubernetes cluster. All updated HCL Commerce docker images can be downloaded from the HCL License and Delivery portal, and pushed to a private docker registry accessible by the ICP cluster. A helm upgrade command can be used to upgrade HCL Commerce with new images.

HCL Commerce prerequisites

Refer to the following links for software and operating system requirements.
  • HCL Commerce Enterprise
  • HCL Commerce Professional
The following table outlines the minimum hardware requirements.
on IBM Cloud Private HCL Commerce application requirements
Number of VMs / Hosts >=1

If you plan on enabling the high availability for the application cluster, use >=2.

Core 16 or more
RAM (GB) 32 or more
Disk space (GB) >=1000
CPU (GHz) >=2.4
Note: The minimum hardware specifications that are listed in the table are for HCL Commerce, and do not include the requirements of IBM Cloud Private. Refer to the IBM Cloud Private requirements in the following section.

For information about performance tuning, see Docker performance tuning.

IBM Cloud Private prerequisites

For detailed information about the IBM Cloud Private system prerequisites, see IBM Cloud Private system requirements.

Network prerequisites

All your network traffic must be distributed through proxy, which includes external requests and inter-cluster communication. To avoid bottlenecks, deploy the appropriate number of proxy nodes for your environment. Deploy these proxy nodes separately; do not deploy the proxy nodes with master nodes. If possible, keep operation and maintenance traffic separate from your user traffic.

HCL Commerce and IBM Cloud Private assemblies

You can download the following software from the HCL License and Delivery portal. Use the values in the Checksum column to verify that your eAssembly parts were not corrupted during the download process. For more information, see Verifying the download package.

See HCL Commerce releases to review and obtain the appropriate IBM Cloud Private package. Note, again, that these images were discontinued for HCL Commerce Version 9.1.
