IBM Product Recommendations and WebSphere Commerce
IBM Product Recommendations is an IBM Digital Analytics solution that you can subscribe to that automatically generates personalized product recommendations on the storefront. The recommendations are based on the browsing, shopping, and purchasing behavior of individual customers. If your site is integrated with IBM Digital Analytics, you can display recommendations from IBM Product Recommendations on your store pages.
Task flow: Enabling
Use the following step-by-step guide to set up Management Center and the Aurora starter store to support displaying recommendations in the storefront from IBM Product Recommendations, formerly known as Coremetrics Intelligent Offer. The approach that you use to display recommendations differs depending on whether the store page is managed in the Commerce Composer tool.
Displaying IBM Product Recommendations on an Aurora store page
There are two methods for displaying recommendations that are generated by IBM Product Recommendations on a page of the Aurora starter store. The method that you choose depends on whether the page is managed in the Commerce Composer tool or not.

To display recommendations generated by IBM Product Recommendations, you must add a specialized widget, called the IBM Product Recommendations widget, to the layout for the page. Then, run a web activity in the widget that uses the Display IBM Product Recommendations action.
        ...on a page that is not managed in Commerce Composer
        Store pages that are not managed in the Commerce Composer tool contain specialized e-Marketing Spots that can display dynamic recommendations from IBM Product Recommendations. To display these recommendations, you must run a web activity in the specialized e-Marketing Spot that uses the Display IBM Product Recommendations action.
    - Tracking IBM Product Recommendations for IBM Digital Analytics
      You can use an IBM Digital Analytics parameter to tag product URLs and send information about shopper selection of recommendations from IBM Product Recommendation to IBM Digital Analytics. By using this tag to send information to IBM Digital Analytics, you can track the performance of the recommendations from IBM Product Recommendations.
    - Data extraction utility for dynamic recommendations in IBM Product Recommendations
      The Intelligent Offer data extraction utility is a command-line utility that you can use to create the Enterprise Product Report (EPR) data for dynamic recommendations that is required by IBM Product Recommendations, formerly known as Coremetrics Intelligent Offer. The utility extracts catalog data from your database and generates ECDF and EPCMF files in the correct format to load into IBM Product Recommendations. You can provide these two files to IBM Product Recommendations regularly for processing dynamic recommendations.

Displaying IBM Product Recommendations on an Aurora store page

There are two methods for displaying recommendations that are generated by IBM Product Recommendations on a page of the Aurora starter store. The method that you choose depends on whether the page is managed in the Commerce Composer tool or not.

The following table summarizes the correct method to use to display IBM Product Recommendations for each type of page. The right column provides a link to instructions.

A page that is not managed in the Commerce Composer tool	In a specialized e-Marketing Spot in the page, you must run a web activity that uses the Display IBM Product Recommendations action with the zone ID for the recommendations. The following two pages already contain the specialized e-Marketing Spot: Shopping Cart (B2C) or Current Order (B2B) page: The name of the e-Marketing Spot is `ShoppingCart_ProductRec`. Order Confirmation page: The name of the e-Marketing Spot is `OrderConf_ProductRec`. If you want to display the recommendations in some other page that is not managed in the Commerce Composer tool, you must include the specialized e-Marketing Spot JSP file in the page JSP file.
