Administering WebSphere Commerce search
For a fully functioning WebSphere Commerce search implementation, you must understand and complete the search administration tasks which include deployment, search index management, and ongoing maintenance.
Deploying the search server
You can deploy WebSphere Commerce search in the standard or advanced configurations, depending on your environment. The exception to this is the WebSphere Commerce Authoring environment, which can only be deployed in the embedded configuration.
Advanced configuration
The WebSphere Commerce search server can be deployed in the Advanced configuration. Depending on your Feature Pack version, the search server is either deployed on a remote machine, or federated and clustered with WebSphere Commerce using the deployment manager (DMGR).

Note: The WebSphere Commerce authoring environment cannot be deployed in the advanced configuration. Only the embedded configuration is supported. For more information, see WebSphere Commerce search server: Embedded configuration.
