Starting and stopping an application server from the Windows Services panel

Starting an application server starts both the application server and any applications that run inside the application server. You can start or stop an application server from the Windows Services panel by starting or stopping services.

About this task

Important:
  • The status on the Services panel can be misleading - the Services panel may indicate "Started" when the application server has not started completely. The only accurate way to confirm that an application server has started or stopped is to check the application server log files.
  • If you start an application server from the Services panel, you can stop that application server from the Services panel or a command prompt.

Procedure

  • Start WebSphere Commerce:
    1. IBM WebSphere Application Server V6 - WC_instance_name
For example, if you have a WebSphere Commerce instance called demo, then the Windows service name is IBM WebSphere Application Server V6 - WC_demo.
  • Start WebSphere Commerce Payments:
    1. IBM WebSphere Application Server V6 -wpm_payments_instance_name
For example, if you have a WebSphere Commerce Payments instance called wpm, then the Windows services name is IBM WebSphere Application Server V6 - wpm_Commerce_Payments_Server.
