Updating store pages for products on auction

As a part of configuring auctions, you have the option to add an auctions link to product pages for items that go on auction. These updates are made by swapping cached product JSP pages in the database with JSP pages that include the auctions link. The swap is done at the time an auction starts. When the auction is closed, the JSP pages in the database are swapped back to the original product pages without the auctions link.

About this task

The advantage to swapping JSP pages is that a customer who is viewing a product page can know immediately if a product is on auction, and can proceed directly to the auctions rule page for that product.

Note: Enabling JSP page swapping may have a performance impact on your database updates, especially if you anticipate a high number of products on auction.

To enable page swapping for products on auction:

Procedure

  1. Enable caching for auctions.
  2. Restart WebSphere Commerce.
