Widgets and Datasources

A Widget is an element of the custom boards, it can be static or associated to a datasource. the Datasource is the source of information and can be created by retrieving data from a query in the plan or from Rest APIs.

Widgets can be static, such as Web content, or associated to datasources. According to the datasource you create, a different widget can be associated.

Table widget has a limit of 1000 objects but the drill down is active, therefore by clicking on the widget it is possible to see more results in the monitoring panel.

The Bubble chart retrieves data from any associated data source showing a series of bubbles of different sizes placed in descending order. For example, when monitoring the critical jobs, data is gathered together according to the job status, and you can see three bubbles:
  • The biggest red one represents data on critical jobs at high risk.
  • The medium yellow one represents data on critical jobs at potential risk.
  • The small green one represents data on critical jobs at potential risk.
Note: The bubble dimension and position does not change according to the number of jobs. They are placed according to the importance of the critical job status.

Gauge Chart and KPI widgets have a simplified process of creation. You can just select the datasource and insert a name. In addition you can set notification both for thresholds and advanced properties. Notifications are also available as pop-up notifications and they can be turned off by selecting Browser notification in the drop-down list of at the top right of the navigation bar.

During the creation of a widget, at the selection of the datasource the system suggests you which datasource can be associated.

A set of default datasources are provided in the list. These datasources only retrieve data from the engine specified from the list in the dashboard. To create a datasource associated to multiple engine, you can duplicate and edit the existing datasources or create new datasources.

To customize the workstation of a Rest API datasources with a z/OS engine use the filter WORKSTATION_NAME.
