Creating a customized dashboard for monitoring

Create a dashboard to monitor your scheduling environment.

About this task

For monitoring purposes, you can create a dashboard to monitor your environments. For instance, in the new dashboard, you can have at a glance information about:

The dashboard is composed of widgets that can be customized to show the data that you need; the data are collected from datasources that must be previously created. To start with a customized dashboard, first create the datasource or use our default, then create a board where you add the widgets.

Widgets and Datasources

At the top right of the Dynamic Workload Console there is a icon with a drop-down list to have all of the notifications at a glance. You can set the notifications with a threshold for each widget during the creation of a custom board, or set different type of notifications for the Workload Dashboard. You can also manage the pop up notifications by selecting Browser notification in the drop-down list.

Monitor critical jobs

Procedure

  1. From the navigation toolbar, click the icon Settings and select Manage Datasources.
    The Manage Datasource panel opens.
  2. Click Add new plan query.
  3. Enter the Engine from the list, the object type and the Plan.
  4. Enter the query in the related field or click Edit to select the filter that needs to be added in the query. Ensure the query has a valid result otherwise the widget could not work.
  5. Enter a name and click Save.
    You can find your new datasource in the list.
Create the board and add the KPI widget to monitor your critical jobs
  1. From the navigation toolbar, click the icon Board and create board.
  2. Insert a name and click Save.
    The new board has been created.
  3. Click the icon plus symbol, select datasource widget and choose from the list the datasource that you have created and you want to associate.
  4. Select KPI from the list of widgets.
  5. Insert widget name and add a threshold.
  6. click Save.
    You can edit, duplicate and remove the widget from the hamburger menu. and save the changes in the board.

List of your engines

Procedure

Add the Table widget to the Board
  1. Open the Board that you have created from the drop-down menu.
  2. Click the icon edit board to enter edit mode in the board and then click the icon plus symbol and select Datasource widgets.
  3. Select the Datasource widget and choose Engine List from the drop-down menu.
  4. Select the widget Table and insert a name.
  5. select the field you want to add and insert a name for each field.
  6. Click Save.
    You can edit properties by clicking the hamburger menu.

Monitor of jobs in waiting status

Procedure

  1. From the navigation toolbar, click the icon Settings and select Manage Datasources.
    The Manage Datasources panel opens.
  2. Select the Jobs count by status and click duplicate.
  3. Enter a name for the Datasource and then edit.
  4. Type engine name and engine owner in the URL where requested.
  5. save.
Add the KPI widget to the Board to monitor your jobs in waiting
  1. Open the Board that you have created from the drop-down menu.
  2. Click the icon edit board to enter edit mode in the board and then click the icon plus symbol and select Datasource widgets.
  3. Select the datasource previously edited.
  4. Select KPI and insert a widget name.
  5. In the Select tracked properties section click add new field
  6. Insert the name and select items[].waiting from the drop-down menu.
  7. Click Add and then Save.

Add your company website to the dashboard

Procedure

  1. Open the Board that you have created.
  2. Click the icon edit board to enter edit mode in the board and then click the icon plus symbol and select Static widgets.
  3. Select Web content
  4. Insert a name, select the datasource and insert the link of your company's website.
  5. Click Save.
