Setting up the Microsoft™ Visual Studio integration

About this task

To use the HCL VersionVault integration with Visual Studio, you must adhere to certain requirements.

Procedure

  1. Complete the Visual Studio and VersionVault installation tasks in this order.
    1. Run a custom installation for Microsoft™ Visual Studio. During installation, do not install Visual Source Safe or make Visual Source Safe the source code control program.
    2. Install HCL VersionVault Visual Studio integration with the HCL VersionVault for Visual Studio package.

  2. When you are working with Visual Basic, save all .frm and .frx files for a project in the same directory.

Results

Installing HCL VersionVault with the Microsoft™ Visual Studio Integration package enables the integration with Visual Basic and Visual J++. After the integration is enabled, you can complete VersionVault operations from the Visual Studio IDE.

Installing the HCL VersionVault for Visual Studio integration partially sets up the integration with Visual C++ by adding commands to the source control menu. You can also set up the following interfaces:

  • The source control toolbar, which contains menu options to complete source control operations.
  • The HCL VersionVault Add-In, which installs a toolbar for completing HCL VersionVault operations.
  • The VersionVault Web toolbar to manage VersionVault WAN server connections.
