Set Up Private Branch wizard

Use this wizard to set up a private branch for working in isolation from your team members. When you are ready to share your work, you can finish the private branch.

On the first step of the wizard, enter information about the private branch.

In What would you like to name the private branch?, enter an alphanumeric string for the name of your private branch. Provide a name that indicates the owner and purpose of the branch. For example, a user named pat working on version 1.4 of a product named Cropcircle would name the branch pat_v1.4_cropcircle_private.

In You may also enter a comment, enter an optional description to be used when creating the new private branch.

Determine from where you want to start the private branch.

  • Set Yes to start the branch from the versions currently selected by your view config spec and use the current time as the basis for your private branch.

    Select this option instead of a checkpoint if the project does not use checkpoints or if no checkpoints are recent enough.

  • Set No to start the branch from versions identified by one of the following:
    • Checkpoint
    • Time rule
    • Label

If you set Yes, click Finish. If you set No, click Next.
