Baseline Differences GUI

The Baseline Differences graphic user interface (GUI) lets you see the results of a comparison of two baselines in a UCM stream and lets you compare versions in the compared baselines. You can use the File menu to start a new comparison in the same context as the currently displayed comparison.

The Diff Baselines window (on Linux and the UNIX system) and Compare Baselines window (on Windows systems) show the results of a comparison in terms of activities, versions, and for composite baselines, members. The windows have an optional toolbar and two basic appearances that depend on the option that you chose for the comparison.

  • If you click Compare with Previous Baseline to start the comparison, you see in the window one details page with tabs.
  • If you click Compare with Another Baseline, you see in the window two details pages, one marked Baseline 1 and the other marked Baseline 2. Each page has its own tabs.

The following tabs can access the details pages:

Members
Displays the baselines that contribute to the composite baseline. In the details page are columns marked Component and Baseline. If neither of the baselines that you are comparing is a composite baseline, this tab is unavailable.
Activities
Lists the activities that are associated with one baseline but not the other. In the details area are columns marked Name, Headline, and Owner.
Versions
Lists the file and directory versions associated with each activity shown on the Activities page. In the details page are the following columns:
  • Pathname

The VOB-extended path for the version of the directory or file.

  • Activity Name

The simple name of the UCM activity that contains the difference version.

  • Activity Headline

The descriptive text for the UCM activity.

You must be in a view context to display versions. If you are not in a view context, a window opens for you to specify a view tag.
