Configuring secure connections with SSL communications

Configure secure connections between servers and their associated clients by using the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) in IBM® HTTP Server (IHS). Set up SSL by enabling the SSL directives included in the default httpd.conf file for IHS.

Before you begin

Before you configure SSL support, redirect IBM® HTTP Server to WebSphere® Application Server to route VersionVault client requests through the IBM® HTTP Server to the web application deployed on the WebSphere® Application Server. For instructions, see Configuring a web plug-in for IBM HTTP Server.

About this task

After you enable the SSL directives in the httpd.conf file, the WebSphere® Application Server can accept a self-signed certificate from IBM® HTTP Server to establish a connection so transactions can be completed.

Procedure

For instructions on how to enable SSL directives within the IBM® HTTP Server configuration file (httpd.conf), see technote 78711.
