Link expiration in messages and landing pages

Links expire at the end of the tracking period that you can specify when you configure a messaging run. When a link expires, the system stops processing requests to open the link target.

By default, Deliver records responses to trackable links in messages and landing pages for up to 90 days for production message runs and up to 7 days for test message runs. However, links from messages to hosted landing pages do not expire.

You specify how long the system tracks links in a message as a delivery parameter when you configure the messaging run that is used to send the message. The tracking period begins when the run completes. If you schedule the messaging run, the link tracking period begins at the end of the scheduled run.

You can set the link tracking period differently for each messaging run. Changing how long to track links for a messaging run does not affect expiration settings for other messaging runs that are configured in the Deliver installation.

After a link expires, the system does not forward the link responses to the Deliver system tables that are installed with Unica Campaign. Instead, when a recipient clicks an expired link, the system displays a message to indicate that the link is no longer available. However, you can request that Unica redirect requests for expired links to a default web page. You must indicate a specific web page to be used as the default page for expired links.
