Creating an online form

You can use the Message Editor to create a landing page as an online form. The resulting form can be linked to an email message and allows message recipients to enter information and make selections. The form can contain a combination of configurable inputs.

Before you begin

Before you begin, verify that all required content and an HTML template with the appropriate form elements is uploaded to the Content Library.

About this task

Configuring a landing page as an online form involves the following actions.

  • Create the online form.
  • Link the input form to a submission form.
Note: To complete these tasks, you must be familiar with HTML coding practices and understand how to use HTML form field tags.

Procedure

  1. Create a landing page communication and select the template that contains the form.
  2. Configure the form inputs. Repeat this step for each input defined in the form.
    • For inputs added to zones in the template, see Configuring inputs added to droppable areas.
    • For inputs defined explicitly in the template, you can review the input mappings contained in the template.

To review the mapping, click Add/Edit form mappings Radio button and check box controls that point to data grid image . You can change the default name for Report Field Name in the Report Field Name column of the Form Mappings window. All other columns in this window are read-only. To make other changes, you must modify the HTML template file directly.

Note: The Form Mappings window does not list inputs configured in zones with the Form Field widget.
  3. Click OK and save the communication.

What to do next

After you create the form, you must link it to a submit page. For details, see Specifying a submission form.
