Reading S/MIME Messages on an Android device

Reading S/MIME messages can be performed from an Android device using the HCL Verse for Android application.

Processing S/MIME mail messages

How do I... Action
Read S/MIME signed messages?
  1. Select the S/MIME signed mail message to read.

  2. Review the S/MIME status line at the top of the message body to confirm the S/MIME signature verification – the S/MIME status icon indicates the S/MIME signature was successfully verified; the icon indicates an issue with the S/MIME signature.

  3. For more details, tap on the S/MIME status line to open the S/MIME signature verification dialog.

  4. The mail message contents will be displayed when viewing the S/MIME signed message in the same way they are for standard mail messages.

Read S/MIME encrypted messages?
  1. Select the S/MIME encrypted mail message to read.

  2. Review the S/MIME status line at the top of the message body to confirm the S/MIME encryption status including the S/MIME encryption icon

  3. The mail message contents will be displayed when viewing the S/MIME encrypted message in the same way they are for standard mail messages.

  4. If the S/MIME encrypted message is unable to be decrypted select the “Add S/MIME Credential” action provided to add the S/MIME credential that can be used to decrypt the message. See Configuring Message Encryption on an Android Device for more details on adding S/MIME credentials.

  5. Once the correct S/MIME credential is added, the email will be automatically decrypted and reloaded.
