Windows™ Phone limitations and restrictions

This topic describes known Windows™ Phone device restrictions and limitations with HCL Traveler.

Note: There are several versions of Windows Phone that are no longer supported. For information on the supported Windows Phone devices, see the HCL Traveler system requirements.

For limitations and restrictions that apply to all device clients, refer to General limitations and restrictions.

Mail

No ability to set different internal and external out of office messages or specify start/end dates.	HCL Traveler on Windows™ Phone devices does not support the ability to set different internal and external out of office messages or specify start/end dates (the end date will always be 12/31/2050).
Reading and then immediately moving mail to a folder leaves the mail as unread on the server.	The Windows™ Phone client does not notify the HCL Traveler server that the message has been read; only that it has moved to a new folder. The result is the message moves to the new folder, but it remains in an unread state.
Document link icons are missing.	When a doc link is included in a mail message, the associated icon will not be present, and a missing image icon will show instead.
The response state of a mail message in the Notes® client is not updated when a message is replied to or forwarded from a Windows™ Phone device.	The Windows™ Phone client does not include a message identifier which is normally used to update the message response state. Therefore, the icons which are visible in the Notes® or iNotes® clients to indicate if the message has been replied to or forwarded are not updated when using a Windows™ Phone device.
Sign and Encrypt with S/MIME account sync setting options do not work as expected.	These options were introduced with Windows Phone 8.1. HCL Traveler server does not have S/MIME support.

Calendar

Attachments are missing from calendar events.	The synchronization of calendar event attachments is not supported on Windows phone devices at this time.
No ability to create Domino® anniversaries or meeting event types.	HCL Traveler on Windows™ Phone devices does not support the ability to create Domino® anniversaries or meeting event types from the device.
Domino® event types display as the same color on the device, and there is no color delineation between different event types.	All Domino® event types created from the server show up as the same color on the device, and there will be no color delineation between different event types.
No meeting chair actions from the device.	HCL Traveler on Windows™ Phone devices does not support meeting chair actions from the device.
Cannot propose a new time for a calendar invitation on the device.	HCL Traveler on Windows™ Phone devices does not support the proposal of a new time for a calendar invitation on the device.
Windows™ Phone maintains exception data when it sends an update for all instances to HCL Traveler.	Updates made to all instances will not be reflected in any single instances that were updated previously.
Unable to retrieve calendar entries older than two weeks.	For calendar entries, regardless of the filter, Windows Phone devices do not retrieve calendar entries older than two weeks.

Security

Problem	Details
No data encryption on the device.	HCL Traveler data on Windows™ Phone 7.5 and 7.8 devices is not encrypted, as these devices do no support device encryption.
Issues with alphanumeric passwords and security policy settings.	For Windows™ Phone 7.5, make sure you are running the latest available firmware updates. There is a known issue with the device security policy settings for the following scenario: HCL Traveler policy password strength is set to both `Require Alphanumeric` value and `Specify a minimum number of complex characters`. The Windows™ Phone device enforces this policy and the user sets an appropriate password. The HCL Traveler policy is changed such that an Alphanumeric password is no longer required. On the Windows™ Phone device, you should now be able to change your device password to numeric only.

Logging

Problem	Details
The logging option for sync settings does not allow a user to retrieve the logs after enabling "Basic" or "Advanced".	It is recommended that the logging setting be set to "Off". See How do I customize my account on a Windows Phone device? for information on how to access the Logging setting.
