Updating Sametime System Console to FP1

Run the installation program to update the IBM® Sametime® 9.0.1 System Console to Feature Pack 1.

Before you begin

When upgrading the Sametime System Console, you typically need to update Installation Manager and WebSphere® Network Deployment as well.

Important: If you completed the tasks in the security-hardening article Sametime 9.0.1 Security Considerations and removed port 9080 from the default port list, you must temporarily restore that port before attempting to upgrade the server. Failure to restore this port will cause the upgrade to fail as described in the IBM tech note Security Hardening of Sametime servers which recommends closing of port 9080 results in future failing upgrades for SSC and Community Servers. After you finish upgrading the deployment, you can remove port 9080 again.

About this task

The Sametime System Console should be running when you start the Sametime System Console upgrade. If the Sametime System Console is not running, the following error message displays: Unable to check Monitoring Policy status for this server. Verify that the server is running and disable the Monitoring Policy. In the Integrated Solutions Console, click Servers->

All Servers->STConsoleServer->Java and Process Management->Monitoring Policy. Then change the Node Restart State to STOPPED; save the settings, synchronize the nodes, and restart the server.

Ensure that IBM DB2® is running when you start the Sametime System Console upgrade. If DB2 is not running, the following error message displays: Exception thrown when trying to register upgrade status with Sametime System Console. Check the Sametime System Console logs in /tmp/SSCLogs for more information. Register the Sametime System Console Server in Sametime System Console Server by running registerProduct.bat/sh -upgrade utility
