Configuring the SAML identity provider

Integrating IBM Verse with the Sametime® client requires a SAML identity provider. When the Verse client loads and Sametime integration is enabled, the Sametime client makes a request to the configured identity provider to authenticate that user. If the user is known to the identity provider, it returns an HTML form to the browser with a SAML response containing the authentication assertion. This form is automatically posted to the Sametime Proxy Server, the user is logged in, and single sign-on is enabled for the user.

About this task

To support authentication between Verse and Sametime, you must configure the identity provider to use the Sametime Proxy Server's URL as the target URL for authentication. The format of the URL varies according to the identity provider and how it is configured; however you must specify the following address to ensure that the response from the identity provider is directed to the correct location on the Sametime Proxy Server: https://Sametime_Proxy_Server/stwebapi/user/connect

For information about configuring your SAML identity provider, consult the product documentation.
