Enabling the WebSphere HTTP proxy server to cache dynamic content

Optionally configure an IBM® WebSphere® HTTP proxy server to cache dynamic content.

Before you begin

Configure an IBM WebSphere HTTP proxy server for use with a Sametime® Meeting Server cluster, and then start the WebSphere HTTP proxy server.

About this task

The WebSphere HTTP proxy server does not cache application server dynamic content by default; you can optionally enable caching by completing these steps.

Enabling the WebSphere HTTP proxy server to cache dynamic content reduces load on the back-end server. For example, when a page change occurs in document sharing, the first request for the image is sent to the back-end Sametime Meeting Server, and subsequent requests for the same image are served by the proxy server. Caching dynamic content during large meetings can reduce response times.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Deployment Manager's (the Sametime System Console) Integrated Solutions Console as the WebSphere administrator.
  2. Click Server Types > WebSphere Proxy Servers.
  3. In the table containing the WebSphere HTTP proxy server list, click the link representing the WebSphere HTTP proxy server for which you are enabling dynamic caching.
