Configuring ports for a Sametime Meeting Server cluster

You have the option to adjust the ports of the Meeting Servers so they are consistent within the cluster. Any port can be used as long as it is available on all of the servers and does not create a conflict if there are multiple servers on the same host. Typically the ports used on the primary node are also set on each of the secondary nodes. The point of this process is not to dictate which port is set on the server, but to guide you through setting each of your servers so the ports are consistent.

About this task

This process is optional and is not required for a functioning Meeting Server cluster, but this process is recommended because debugging and verification are easier when the ports are the same across the servers.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the WebSphere Integrated System Console as the administrator.
  2. Click Servers > Server Types > WebSphere application servers.
  3. Select the STMeetingServer server
  4. Navigate to Communications > Ports.
  5. Locate WC_defaulthost. Record the port used, typically 9080.
  6. Locate WC_defaulthost_secure. Record the port used, typically 9443.
  7. Repeat the above steps on the remaining STMeetingServers in the cluster. If available on the secondary nodes, set the WC_defaulthost and WC_defaulthost_secure ports to match those of the primary nodes.
  8. Resynchronize all nodes in the cluster by completing the procedure Synchronizing and restarting nodes in the cluster.
