      Sametime has support for LDAP and native Domino directory servers to provide the user repository. When installing Sametime, you are given an option to choose which type of directory to use. Sametime supports one directory type (LDAP or Domino directory) to be configured on the server. All Sametime Community servers must share the same directories and directory type.

      The time-to-live (TTL) setting in the sametime.ini defines how long the chat history is stored in the database. The default value is 90 days. Administrators can modify the value based on the organization's preferred setting.

      - Optional: Enabling HTTP Tunneling over Port 80
        Sametime Community server supports a feature called HTTP tunneling, which is enabled by default on ports 1533 and 8082. This configuration is useful for environments with traffic inspection where the proprietary Sametime protocol (VP) is not recognized. When tunneling is enabled, the VP protocol is encased in an HTTP wrapper, where it looks more like HTTP traffic but still has the VP protocol inside. This traffic can be forced over well-known HTTP port 80.

        If your Sametime® Community Server deployment requires IPv6 support, you can enable it by configuring settings for both Domino® and Sametime.

Configuring Domino® to support IPv6 addressing

The HCL® Sametime® Community Server is hosted on Domino®. When you enable support for IPv6 addressing on the community server, you must additionally ensure that the underlying Domino server also supports IPv6.

Before you begin

Sametime supports IPv6 addressing only with Domino 8.0 or later. If you use an earlier release of Domino, you must upgrade it to release 8.x before you can configure it for IPv6 addressing.
