Integrating Notes Contacts with the Sametime phonebook

Users of IBM® Sametime® Unified Telephony can integrate IBM Notes® contacts with their Sametime phonebook. The Notes Contact and Sametime Phonebook Synchronization plug-in provides automatic synchronization between a user's Notes contacts and the Sametime contact storage. When this feature is enabled, any contact in Notes with a specified phone number is treated as if they are entered in the Sametime phonebook. The contact's name appears in a call window, instead of just their number appearing there. The contact's number can be found quickly in Sametime and a passcode can be associated with the number and dialed by SUT.

About this task

The Notes Contact and Sametime Phonebook Synchronization plug-in runs synchronization when telephony becomes available and at intervals thereafter as long as the user is logged in and telephony is available. The plug-in has no user interface and its operation is transparent to the end user. Synchronization is one way, from Notes contacts to the Sametime phonebook. Updates made to the Sametime phonebook are not synchronized back to the Notes contacts.

The Notes Contact and Sametime Phonebook Synchronization plug-in is disabled by default.

Procedure

To enable the plug-in, add this setting to the plugin_customization.ini file:

com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.contact.notes/enableAutoSynch=true

If you are using a managed-settings.xml file, add the setting to that file.
