Configuring the Rational® Quality Manager adapter

You must configure the Rational® Quality Manager adapter to establish a successful connection between HCL OneTest Performance and Rational® Quality Manager.

Before you begin

  • You must have the following information:

    • The URL of the Rational® Quality Manager server.

    • A user credential and valid license to access Rational® Quality Manager.

    • The user account must be added to the project area that is being accessed by the adapter with write permissions to the project.

  • You must have added -Dhptcostconfirm to the eclipse.ini file before you run a test from Rational® Quality Manager.

    The eclipse.ini file must be available at the installation directory of HCL OneTest Performance.

Procedure

  1. Open HCL OneTest Performance.
  2. Click Window > Preferences > Quality Manager Adapter.
  3. Enter the following information of the Rational® Quality Manager:
    Fields Actions
    Server URL

    Enter the URL of Rational® Quality Manager.

    For example, https://<hostname>:<portnumber>/qm

    Note: If you rename the Rational® Quality Manager server, you must perform the following tasks:
    1. Update the Rational® Quality Manager server name in the hosts file with a new name.

    2. Update the Server URL field with the new name.

    3. Configure the adapter to point to the new URL.
    Adapter name

    Enter a unique name to identify the Rational® Quality Manager adapter. The Rational® Quality Manager adapter uses the name of the computer as the default name of the adapter.

    Project area

    Enter the name of the project area in Rational® Quality Manager.

  4. Select one of the following Authentication type from the drop-down list to connect to Rational® Quality Manager:
    Authentication type Actions
    Username and Password

    Perform the following steps:

    1. Enter the username associated with Rational® Quality Manager in the User ID field.

    2. Enter the password associated with the username of Rational® Quality Manager in the Password field.

    KERBEROS

    Click Browse to locate and select the kerberos.ini file in the Configuration File field.

    Note: The kerberos.ini file is automatically created when you set up Kerberos.

    For example, on Windows systems, you can locate the file in the c:\windows\krb5.ini. The file name and the location might change based on the operating systems.

    SSLCERT

    Perform the following steps:

    1. Enter the location of the SSL certificate keystore in the Certificate Location filed.

    2. Enter the keystore password in the Password field.

    Note: The expected format of the keystore is p12. The keystore must contain the client certificate that the adapter uses when you authenticate with Rational® Quality Manager.
    SMARTCARD Select a certificate from the drop-down list from the Certificate Selection field.
  5. Optional: Select the Enable Proxy checkbox to connect through a proxy computer and perform the following steps to enter the Proxy Details of the computer:
    1. Enter the hostname of the proxy computer in the Host field.
    2. Enter the port number of the proxy computer in the Port field.
    3. Enter the username and password of the proxy computer in the User and Password fields.
  6. Click Apply and Close to save and close the configuration.

Results

You have configured the details of Rational® Quality Manager on HCL OneTest Performance.
