What's new with CF15 | HCL Digital Experience

This Combined Cumulative Fix includes new features and improvements.

Some features are ready for immediate use when you apply the latest combined cumulative fix. Other features require extra configuration or a procedure to enable the feature.

Version 8.5.0.0 CF07 and earlier documentation

Starting with Version 8.5.0.0 CF08, the earlier version of the product documentation is available only in PDF format. Go to the following documentation resource if you are on CF07, CF06, CF05, CF04, CF03, CF02, or CF01:

HCL Digital Experience Version 8.5 and 9.0

Starting with CF13, combined cumulative fixes apply to both HCL Digital Experience version 8.5 and 9.0. The HCL Digital Experience documentation for Version 9.0 contains installation documentation and documentation on how to migrate your IBM® WebSphere® Application Server. After you install Version 9, return to the Version 8.5 HCL Knowledge Center for information on how to configure and use HCL Digital Experience.

Cognitive content authoring

Starting with CF15, the advanced text editing option included with CF11 and higher, Textbox.io, can be integrated with several IBM Watson services to help you write with clarity and impact. To learn more about this technology, read The rise of the content bots: Setting up the Tone Analyzer.

To configure your Textbox.io rich text editor and enable the Watson Tone Analyzer service on IBM Cloud, first create a Bluemix account. Go to Sign up for an IBM id to sign up for a trial account. Go to Textbox.io for IBM WCM for information on how to enable tone analysis.

Notice: The Textbox.io rich text editor has a known issue with Chrome and accessing HTTPS sites. Complete the following steps to add the HTTPS server to the whitelist:
  1. Log in to the WebSphere® Integrated Solutions Console.
  2. Go to Servers > Server Types > WebSphere application servers and click HCL Digital Experience.
  3. Go to Java and Process Management > Process definition. Then, select Java Virtual Machine.
  4. Scroll to the Generic JVM arguments section.
  5. Verify that the code contains -Dephox.allowed-origins.origins.0=http://connection_server_name:WC_defaulthost_port.
  6. Verify that the code contains -Dephox.allowed-origins.origins.1=https://connection_server_name:WC_defaulthost_secure_port. If it does not exist, add it to the end of the code.
  7. Save your changes and restart the server.

Portal Access Control Optimizer

If you notice performance issues when you use HCL Web Content Manager, you can optimize the roles of the Portal Access Control tables. Optimizing the roles can improve the performance of HCL Portal.

Improvements to the Watson Content Hub integration

Updates were made to the config-ch-integ and setup-ch-integ-vp tasks to make integrating with Watson Content Hub easier.

Configure Watson Content Hub as a Digital Asset Management service

You can configure a new plug-in, the HCL Web Content Manager plug-in for Watson Content Hub, and integrate Web Content Manager as a Digital Asset Manager service. This plug-in allows assets that are stored in Watson Content Hub to be used in the context of Web Content Manager and presented through Web Content Manager pages. The rendering of these resources uses the Content Delivery Network that comes with Watson Content Hub.
