Web Application Bridge | HCL Digital Experience

The Web Application Bridge uses reverse proxy technology to integrate web-based content providers, such as the Microsoft SharePoint server, with HCL Digital Experience. Administrators create content provider profiles, policies, and web dock applications. Authors add the applications to a page without requiring direct network access to the backend application. A special engine maps Uniform Resource Identifier (URIs) on the iFrame portlet to real URIs from the content providers.

The administrator completes the following steps to prepare the Web Application Bridge:
  1. The system administrator creates the content provider profiles.
  2. The system administrator creates at least one policy for each content provider profile.
  3. The system administrator creates the web dock application.
  4. The content author creates a page or edits an existing page.
  5. The content author adds the appropriate web dock portlet to their page.
The content author completes the following steps to use the Web Application Bridge:
  1. Create or edit a page.
  2. Add the appropriate web dock portlet to the page.
