To delete a UCM activity

About this task

Tip: You cannot delete an activity if the change set contains one or more versions. You should use some other action for an activity with a nonempty change set. For example, you can deliver all other activities in the stream, abandon the stream, and create a new one to keep track of your work on the project. But if no other action is appropriate, you must first use cleartool rmversion to remove the versions from the VOB. Note that removing versions from the VOB is irreversible and may have unintended consequences, for example, if there are dependencies on the versions that you remove.

You can delete an activity using the command prompt or Project Explorer. To delete an activity from a command prompt, use cleartool rmactivity. For more information, see the rmactivity reference page.

To delete an activity using the Project Explorer, complete the following steps:

Procedure

  1. Start the Project Explorer by one of the following methods:
    • On the UNIX system and Linux, in a command shell, type clearprojexp.
    • On Windows systems, in DevOps ClearCase® Explorer, click Toolbox, then click UCM > Project Explorer.
  2. In the Project Explorer window that opens in the left pane, navigate to your project. Then select the stream that contains the activity.
  3. In the right pane, select the activity.
  4. Click File > Delete. If the activity is linked with a record in a Rational® ClearQuest® user database, you must use the Rational ClearQuest client connected to the Rational ClearQuest user database to delete the Rational ClearQuest record.
