To mount/activate VOBs

If your organization has not implemented the automounting of VOBs (on Linux, Solaris, and AIX systems), you must mount/activate VOBs to access source files from a dynamic view. For more about automounting VOBs, see Automounting VOBs.

About this task

Mount/activate VOBs to access source files from a dynamic view. You can perform this operation from the command line on the UNIX system and Linux and from either DevOps ClearCase® Explorer or Windows Explorer on the Windows system.

  • Mount/activate VOBs from the command line on the UNIX system and Linux:

Public VOBs are mounted as part of the system start procedure of a DevOps Code ClearCase host. If you deactivated VOBs and want to reestablish access, or if you want to activate private VOBs, use cleartool mount.

    # /opt/devops/clearcase/cleartool mount /vobs/guivob

Only the root user or the owner can activate a private VOB.

  • Mount/activate VOBs from ClearCase Explorer on Windows systems:
    1. In the Shortcut pane of ClearCase Explorer, click Views and click the shortcut of a dynamic view.
    2. In the Folder pane of ClearCase Explorer, right-click the dynamic view. Then click Mount VOB.
    3. In the Mount window, select a VOB.
    4. To activate the VOBs when you log on, select Reconnect at Logon.
    5. Click Mount.

  • Mount/activate VOBs from Windows Explorer:
    1. Right-click the dynamic-views drive. On the DevOps Code ClearCase pop-up menu, click Mount VOB.
    2. In the Mount dialog box, select a VOB.
    3. To activate the VOBs when you log on, select Reconnect at Logon.
    4. Click Mount.
