Migrating from Change Management (CM) Server to CCRC WAN Server

When you upgrade from ClearCase® version 7.x to version 8.x or later, migrate the Change Management (CM) Server to the CCRC WAN Server, which replaces the CM Server in ClearCase version 8.0 and later.

In 7.1.2 releases, IBM® WebSphere Application Serverr and IBM HTTP Server were installed as part of the CM Server installation. Beginning with the ClearCase version 8.0 release, these components must be installed separately, before installing the ClearCase web server. This process must be completed before migrating from CM Server to CCRC WAN Server. You cannot reuse the IBM WebSphere Application Server and IBM HTTP Server instances installed during the ClearCase CM Server installation.

General steps for upgrading
  1. Back up your server configuration and web view storage. See Backing up CM Server configuration and web view storage.
  2. Back up your CM Server web view storage and CM Server MBeans. These are the default paths for web view storage:
    • Windows: C:\ccweb
    • Linux or Unix: /var/adm/devops/clearcase/ccweb

  3. Verify that IBM WebSphere Application Server components and fix packs are installed. For information IBM WebSphere Application Server, see Prepare the WebSphere Application Server environment for DevOps Code ClearCase web servers
  4. If you want to install CCRC WAN server into an existing IBM WebSphere Application Server profile when you upgrade, create a profile now or verify that one exists. You can also deploy CCRC WAN Server to a new profile that is created during the upgrade process.
  5. Upgrade DevOps Code ClearCase with Installation Manager. Choose the view server and CCRC WAN Server as components to be installed.
  6. After the installation, configure CCRC WAN server. For information, see technote 433877.

Backing up CM Server configuration and web view storage

Back up CM Server resources before migrating to CCRC WAN Server.

CM Server configuration
MBEANs were used to configure the CM Server in the 7.1.x releases. MBEANs are not required for server configuration in this release. The upgrade process migrates the relevant MBean values to the CCRC Server configuration file at <clearcase_home>/config/ccrc/server.conf.. For additional back up, save the MBean values to a file by running the following command from a command window on the system where CM Server is installed: 
cd <rational_common>/CM/scripts/eWAS/bin/wsadmin.[bat, sh] server1 -profileName cmprofile -c "source teamAdminUtils.jacl" -c dumpAll
View storage
Back up the web view storage if it is in the ClearCase installation directory, <rational_home> or <clearcase_home> for example. For information, see Backing up a view.
