Upgrade VOB schema version and raise the feature level

Check the VOB schema version and determine whether to upgrade the schema version and raise the feature level after you upgrade DevOps Code ClearCase®.

DevOps Code ClearCase version 9.0.1 supports VOB schema versions 54 and 80. Run this command from the command line to check the VOB schema level: cleartool describe vob:<pname-in-vob>.

Schema 80
Schema 80 is required to use all the features available in DevOps Code ClearCase version 9.0.1. In this release, feature level 9 is the default level for new VOBs. To use new functionality for existing VOBs that are not at schema version 80, complete these steps:
  1. Upgrade to ClearCase version 9.0.1.
  2. Run the cleartool reformatvob command to reformat the VOB to schema version 80.
  3. Run the cleartool chflevel command to raise the feature level to feature level 9.

If your VOB is already at schema 80, upgrade to ClearCase version 9.0.1. Then, run the cleartool chflevel command to raise the feature level to feature level 9.

Schema 54
After you upgrade to DevOps Code ClearCase version 9.0.1 from an earlier release, run the cleartool reformatvob command to reformat existing VOBs from schema 54 to schema 80. To enable support for ClearCase version 9.0.1 features, raise the feature level to feature level 9.

Upgrading the schema version and raising the feature level is required only if you want to enable support for ClearCase version 9.0.1 features. In previous releases, the schema was silently upgraded during the installation.

Note: If the VOB is replicated, review Feature levels before you raise the VOB family feature level and the replica feature level.

For a description of the features that are enabled by feature level 9, see technote 73065.
