Administering the DevOps Code ClearCase® registry
The DevOps Code ClearCase® registry is a central repository of information about shared resources such as VOBs and views.
DevOps Code ClearCase® registry backup and switchover
DevOps Code ClearCase® provides tools that enable you to configure one or more backup registry hosts. A backup registry host can take over when a registry server fails.

A backup registry host must be configured to back up the registry data of a primary DevOps Code ClearCase® registry host.

About this task

Use the following procedure to define a computer running Linux or the UNIX system as a backup registry host.

Log on to the host. You must log on as root to have privileges to stop or start DevOps Code ClearCase®, or to create directories and files in the /var partition of most hosts.
Stop DevOps Code ClearCase.
Edit the file /var/adm/devops/clearcase/config/rgy_hosts.conf. The first line of this file is the name of the host’s registry server. Add a second line that is the host name of the host itself.
Restart DevOps Code ClearCase.

Results

The host becomes a backup registry host and begins running rgy_backup to back up the registry data on the primary registry host specified in the first line of the file /var/adm/devops/clearcase/config/rgy_hosts.conf.
