Download files from a library to edit them. You can also edit file properties for a
file.
About this task
You can choose whether to check out a file before you edit it. Checking out a file locks it
so that no other user can replace the file while you are working on it.
Procedure
To edit library files, complete the following steps.

Open the library that contains the file and click the name of the file.
- Optional:
Click Check Out to lock the file.
- Work with your file, select one of the following options
- Click Download to download the file
and save it to your computer.
- If HCL Connections™ Docs is deployed and the file
type is supported by the HCL Docs editor,
click Edit in Docs.
- If connectors are enabled, click Edit on Desktop and
edit the file on your desktop.
- If you downloaded the file, edit the file on your computer
and save your changes.
Note: This step does not apply to HCL Docs
files.

Replace the file in the library with your updated version.

On the summary page, click Upload New Version.

Click Browse and navigate to the file on your computer.

Select one of the following options:
- Check In. Replaces the current public file with the version on your
computer, and then unlocks the file.
- Update Draft. Replaces the current draft file with the version on your
computer, and keeps the file locked. When you are ready to make the draft the public version, click
Check In.
To edit file properties, complete the following steps:

Click the file title in any view to open its summary page.

Select .

Edit the available properties as needed. Required fields are marked with an asterisk. For
example, *Sales Date.

Select one of the following options:
- Check In. Uploads the file and makes it available to library users.
- Save as Draft. Uploads the file as a draft. Only you can see and work
with drafts until you check them in. To check in a draft, open the file summary page for the draft
and click Check In.
- Update Draft. Updates the draft version of the file. This option only
displays when you have checked out the file.
