Adding apps and widgets to the Highlights page
Community owners can design a Highlights page that includes standard Connections apps as well as widgets that aggregate content for community members.
The Highlights page, in addition to being able to serve as an overview for your standard community apps, provides widgets that can include content from a variety of sources. For example, the Files widget shown by default on the Highlights page can list files from the Files apps of several communities. With the Highlights administration panel, you can choose from the appropriate column which apps and widgets you want to add or remove.
To add a standard community app or Highlights widget:
- From the community navigation bar, click Highlights. Your
Highlights page will include a collection of widgets that mirror some of the apps already
available in your community.Note: If you don't already see a Highlights tab, click Community Actions, select Add Apps from the list, and then select Highlights.
- On the Highlights page, click the Customize button.
- Click the Apps or Widgets column depending on whether you want to add a community app or Highlights widget.
- Click Add Apps or Add Widgets, and then click the app or widget you want.
- Drag and drop the widget on the page to move it to the desired location.
- Repeat steps 2 to 5 until you've added as many apps and widgets as you want.
- Click Close.
Tip: Hidden Apps is the location where any apps or
widgets that you remove are stored. For Highlights widgets that you store, any changes that
you made to settings are preserved so that the customized widget can be added again
later.
Attention: Some of the widgets include options to configure them for personalization, so
that the logged-in user will see content relating specifically to them. The personalization
options are not currently supported for the Highlights widgets. Additionally, mobile users of
the News widgets in the Highlights app cannot create content in the widgets. These include the
News, News - Channel, News - List, News - Overview, and News - Slider widgets.
This table lists the widgets you can add to the Highlights page. For details on configuring each
type of widget after it's been added, click the widget name to view documentation for that
widget.
