CR2 or earlier: Upgrading from XCC to Engagement Center

If you have updated to Connections 6.0 CR2 or earlier, you can upgrade to HCL Connections Engagement Center from XCC Web Content Management Extension V13 by backing up customizations, uninstalling the XCC application, installing Connections Engagement Center, and restoring the customizations. All of the metadata that was created with XCC can be reused with Connections Engagement Center.

Procedure

  1. The Connections Engagement Center stores data in the same database that XCC does. Back up the XCC database as you would for any Connections or XCC upgrade.
  2. If there was any customization in the Connections Customization folder ( for example, C:\IBM\Connections\data\shared\customization), then back this up.
  3. Uninstall the XCC application.
  4. Install the Connections Engagement Center.
  5. Restore the customizations that you backed up in step 2.
  6. (Optional) Restore anonymous access by completing the following steps:
    1. Log in to Connections as the administrator.
    2. Click Customize.
    3. On the Customization panel, click the Engagement Center Settings tab.
    4. Click Admin Dashboard.
    5. In the Admin Dashboard, click the Anonymous Access tab.
    6. Enter the password that was designated for your "Run As User" setting.
    7. Click Save but do not restart the server.
    8. Verify that anonymous access now functions correctly by viewing a page using the anonymous servlet /xcc/global.
  7. Update language files by completing the following steps:
    1. Return to the Engagement Center Settings tab.
    2. Download any customized language files as a back-up.
    3. Now delete all of the language files from the Engagement Center.
    4. Click Admin Dashboard.
    5. In the Admin Dashboard, click the Language Files tab.
    6. Click Reinit Language Files to generate new language files.
    7. Return to the Engagement Center Settings tab.
    8. Select a language that was customized prior to the upgrade, and click the wrench icon next to it so you can edit the settings.
    9. Merge your customizations into the new language files by placing the customized keys from the older files in the new files.
    10. Click Save to save the updates and close the editor.
