Changing descriptive attributes contained in the attribute dictionary

After you assign attributes contained within the Management Center attribute dictionary to catalog entries for use as descriptive attributes, you can change these attributes within the attribute dictionary.

About this task

You might want to make the following types of changes to your descriptive attribute:
  • Change general attribute information
  • Change the value of the descriptive attribute
  • Replace the attribute in a catalog entry with a different attribute

Procedure

  • Change general attribute information.
  • Change the value of the descriptive attribute:

    Change descriptive attributes with predefined values
    1. Delete the attribute from the catalog entry.
    2. Reassign the attribute to the catalog entry, specifying a unique predefined allowed value for the attribute that does not already exist.

    1. Open the Catalogs tool.
    2. Find the catalog entry that contains the descriptive attribute you want to change.
    3. In the Search Results list view, right-click the catalog entry; then click Open to open the properties view for the catalog entry.
    4. Click the Descriptive Attributes tab.
    5. In the Descriptive Attributes table, right-click the attribute you want to change; then click Open to open the properties view for the attribute.
    6. Click an editable cell within the table to change the current information on the spot. You can edit information contained within the following cells in the Descriptive Attributes table.
      Sequence
      The order in which to display objects. Numbers are displayed in ascending order.
      Value
      The language-specific value of the attribute. Attribute values are based on the data type of the attribute, such as text, whole number, or decimal number.
      Relationship Field 1
      A customized field for attribute relationship information. The value for this field must be an integer.
      Relationship Field 2
      A customized field for attribute relationship information. The value for this field must be an integer.
      Relationship Field 3
      A customized field for attribute relationship information. The value for this field must be text.
      Value Field 1
      A customized field for attribute information. The value for this field must be an integer.
      Value Field 2
      A customized field for attribute information. The value for this field must be an integer.
      Value Field 3
      A customized field for attribute information. The value for this field must be text.
      Image path 1
      The language-specific full file path of the image. For example, images/G1.jpg.
      Image path 2
      The language-specific full file path of the image. For example, images/G1.jpg.
      Unit of Measure
      The language-specific unit of measure for the attribute value.
      Value description field 1
      A language-specific customized field for attribute value data.
      Value description field 2
      A language-specific customized field for attribute value data.
      Value description field 3
      A language-specific customized field for attribute value data.
    7. Click Save or Save and Close.
  • Replace the attribute in a catalog entry with a different attribute:
    1. Delete the attribute from the catalog entry.
    2. Add new descriptive attribute
