Migrating runtime environments (with staging servers)

The following section outlines the high-level steps that must be followed to migrate your runtime instance from version 7.0 to version 8.0. These steps are specific to version 7.0 environments that are configured with a staging or authoring instance.If you are migrating an environment that is not configured with a staging or authoring instance, see Migrating runtime environments (without staging servers).

Before you begin

  1. Review Planning to migrate WebSphere Commerce.
  2. Generate and review a product comparability report for WebSphere Commerce Version 8.0.
  3. From your WebSphere Commerce Version 7.0 environment, ensure that all tasks are approved and all workspaces are closed.
  4. From your WebSphere Commerce Version 7.0 environment, use the following utilities to ensure that your staging database and production database are synchronized:
    1. stagingprop utility
    2. indexprop utility
    Note: Once the staging and production databases are in sync, a content-freeze should be in effect until the live production environment is migrated.
  5. Migrate your WebSphere Commerce Developer environment.

Procedure
