WebSphere Commerce Developer

Installing Rational Application Developer or Rational Software Architect

Installing Rational Application Developer or Rational Software Architect is the first step of installing WebSphere Commerce Developer. The IBM Installation Manager is installed when you install either of these products. Rational Application Developer is packaged with WebSphere Commerce Developer. Rational Software Architect is not packaged with WebSphere Commerce Developer, but you can install it separately.

Note: The following Rational software versions are deprecated:
  • Rational Application Developer Version 7.5
  • Rational Software Architect Version 7.5
  • Rational Application Developer Version 8.0
Therefore, you should install Rational Application Developer Version 8.5.5.3, or a higher fix pack for Version 8.5.5.

With the end of service announcement for IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, Version 6 set for April 30, 2018, you can upgrade to Rational Application Developer Version 9.5.0.2 and WebSphere Application Server Version 8.5.5 so that you can use IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, Version 8. Please note that you must have Rational Application Developer Version 8.5.5.3, or a higher fix pack for Version 8.5.5 installed before you can upgrade Rational Application Developer Version 9.5.0.2.
