    Preparing to install HCL Discover involves assessing your current IT resources, determining and cataloging the HCL Discover component-to-server assignments, installing and configuring prerequisite software and preparing the servers and your network environment to accept HCL Discover.

Hardware requirements

For optimal performance, install HCL Discover on dedicated hardware.

Processor requirements

64-bit processors are required for all Windows-based servers hosting the HCL Discover Windows components.

For the HCL Discover Network Capture Application (which runs on Linux only) both 32-bit processors and 64-bit processors are supported.

Hardware requirements for the Network Capture Application server machine

The server used for Network Capture Application must meet the following minimum hardware requirements:

Dual processor, quad core:
Intel quad-core Xeon processor at 2.8 GHz or better for total of 8 cores minimum.
3 network interface cards (NIC), each card with 1-Gigabit.
Hard drive space according to sizing
Hard drive speed: SAS or SCSI hard drive with 15ms access time and 7200rpm drive speed.
