Portal Management

General Settings

After data has reached its expiration date, the Data Collector purges the data from the database. It is no longer available.

        Data Collector Statistics log (TLDataCollectorStats.log)
        The TLDataCollectorStats.log contains one line for every minute, indicating counts about AGG, AGKEY, PATH tables.
        Data Aggregation and Retention
        The Discover reporting system is driven by data collected from the Discover Processing Servers. Collected data consists of statistical information that is generated while sessions are processed. The data is generated in one-minute buckets and extracted into the reporting database every five minutes.

        After data has reached its expiration date, the Data Collector purges the data from the database. It is no longer available.

        These settings define the number of days that data is retained in the Discover databases.
      - Search
        HCL Discover search settings control how session searches are configured and retrieved. Searches may return a high number of sessions, so some settings can be used to limit the volume of retrieved data.

        These HCL Discover settings control creation of user accounts, password policies, and default user settings.
      - Integration
        These settings are used to define the Segment Builder, which is a service that can create a session segment from an external data source.

        These settings govern the behavior of HCL Discover, which is used to search, analyze, and replay visitor sessions.
      - Scorecards
        Use these settings to configure schedule retention, dashboard distribution, and scorecard data retention.
    - Portal Announcements
      Portal announcements are messages displayed to all Portal users upon login. These messages can be used to display current system status, scheduled maintenance windows, or other Discover-related issues.
    - Portal Logs
      In the Portal Management page, the Logs section displays the different types of logs created by both the Portal and the Data Service. Each section has its own layout and UI.
    - Backing Up Discover
      Discover provides multiple mechanisms for backing up your Discover system and your captured data.

    The Discover Management System (Manage Services) centralizes configuration management for Discover systems on Windows™-based hosts.
  - Database Administration
    The HCL Discover datastore runs on top of a set of four Microsoft™ SQL Server databases.
  - Report Access Permissions
    Users whose accounts contain the proper permissions may administer Discover reports. Depending on the type of report, permissions to administer individual reports of that type are configured in the report definition.
  - Managing User Agents
    Through Discover, you can monitor the different types of user agents that contact your web application. Through a provided set of data objects, Discover can identify the type of traffic that is requesting resources from your web application and then monitor counts and other information that pertains to the type of user agent. These objects can be used as the source data for developing a useful set of user agent-related reports, enabling you to closely monitor the composition of traffic to your site.

    This section describes how to acquire and maintain the configuration files necessary for parsing of fixed and mobile user agents and how to prepare those files for use in the HCL Discover platform.

    To use the data that is injected into the [ExtendedUserAgent] section by the Discover SessionAgentTLTRef, a Discover administrator must create events that create charts for this data.

    HCL Discover and Unica Journey integration works with CEP configuration. The CEP configuration enables the event to be sent to CEP and the external systems. Unica Discover-Unica Journey integration is supported from version 12.1.0.3 onwards.
  - Integrating HCL Discover and Unica Interact
    HCL Discover and Unica Interact integration works with CEP configuration. The CEP configuration enables the event to be sent to CEP and the external systems. Unica Discover-Unica Interact integration is supported from version 12.1.0.3 onwards.

    Discover 12.1.8 and above supports the use of a new SSL certificate based mechanism for securing all inter-process communication between the Discover servers. This is important in a distributed environment with multiple servers, as the components of Discover communicate with each other over the network, using a variety of ports.

To retain this data, you have the following options:

Procedure

Integrate the Discover databases with another enterprise data system. Using HCL Discover Data Export, you can extract data from the Discover database and insert it into another enterprise system. See "Data Export for Data Analysis Administration Manual" in the HCL Discover Data Export for Data Analysis Administration Manual.

Note: HCL Discover Data Export is a separately licensed component of the HCL Discover system.
Forward to the enterprise data warehouse. Using HCL Discover Session Archiving, you can extract session data and store them in the enterprise data warehouse for archival purposes. See "Administration Manual" in the HCL Discover Administration Manual.
Note: HCL Discover Session Archiving is a separately licensed component of the HCL Discover system. HCL Discover Session Archiving is no longer available as a newly licensed product as of Release 8.7. Customers that licensed HCL Discover Session Archiving in Release 8.6 and earlier may continue to use and receive support for the product in Release 8.7 and later.
