Define Alternate Product Names

About this task

To create an “alias” (Alternate) name for an existing product name, follow these steps

Procedure

  1. On the Home page, move the cursor to the Utilitiesmenu.
  2. The options displaying System Deletion, Delete Obsolete Hardware , Usage Deletionand Define Alternate Product Name appears.
  3. Click on Define Alternate Product Name.
  4. Ensure the desired repository is selected. Change if required.
  5. Click the button to create an alias product name from the list of imported products.

    A pop up page is displayed as seen here:

    Select the product you wish to create an “alias” name for from the 'Product Name' drop-down list box. Then provide an alternate name for the product in the “Alternate product name” text box.

  6. Click ‘Save’ to continue.

    The “alias” and original product names appear in the list as shown here:

    Use the options under “Action” to alter or delete a created “alias” product name.

    Once created, you will see the alternative product names displayed every where in reports for the updated repository database.

  7. To ‘Edit’ or ‘Delete’ a Alter product name, click the icon.
  8. A confirmation message appears, Click Delete to proceed or Cancel to exit.
    After clicking the Delete button, the deleted “alias” product name will no longer appear in the list. The original product name will now be shown in all applicable reports.
