Forward to a Friend default submission and confirmation pages

When an email recipient clicks a Forward to a Friend link in an email message, the system displays a web submission form where the recipient enters the forwarding email addresses. After the recipient submits the email addresses, the system displays a confirmation page. The Content Library contains system-generated assets that the Message Editor uses to create the default email submission form and the confirmation page. The assets are identified in the Content Library as BUILTIN assets.

Unica creates the submission form and confirmation page automatically by creating the pages as hosted landing pages. The system creates the default submission form and confirmation page the first time that you add a Forward to a Friend link to a communication and use Preview Preview to view the assembled message.

After the first preview, the assets that are required to build the submission form and confirmation pages appear in the Content Library as BUILTIN assets in the Forward to a Friend Contents (BUILTIN) folder. The folder includes the following assets.

  • Forward to a Friend Confirmation (BUILTIN) The asset that the system uses to create the confirmation page. You can edit this HTML snippet.
  • Forward to a Friend Form (BUILTIN) The asset that the system uses to create the email address submission form. You can edit this HTML snippet.
  • Forward to a Friend Template (BUILTIN) The HTML template that defines the structure and format of the submission and confirmation pages. You cannot edit this template.

The system creates only one default submission form and confirmation page. The same landing pages are used to provide an email submission form and confirmation page for all Forward to a Friend links. Each time that you publish a communication that contains a Forward to a Friend link, the system also creates and publishes the associated hosted submission and confirmation landing pages.

You can modify the BUILTIN form and confirmation assets. For example, you can add a company logo, change the background color, or revise the text. The system uses the updated assets to build a new default submission form or confirmation page. Because the system uses the same landing pages for all Forward to a Friend links, any changes that you make to the BUILTIN assets affect all messages that include a Forward to a Friend link that you publish after you make the changes.

There are limits to how you can modify the default submission form and confirmation page. The default assets contain some required HTML elements that you cannot change. You cannot rename, delete, or move the default assets or the Forward to a Friend Contents (BUILTIN) folder. You cannot add new assets or subfolders the Forward to a Friend Contents (BUILTIN) folder.
