Installing new Sametime Gateway JAR files for FP1

Begin upgrading IBM® Sametime® 9 Gateway server by deploying new JAR files.

Procedure

  1. Download the fix IZAR-A4ABZB "Sametime Gateway 9.0.1" from IBM Fix Central and store the STGW9.0.1.zip file in a temporary location on the Sametime Gateway server.
  2. Stop all of the Sametime Gateway processes on the server:
Note: In a clustered environment, perform this step on the deployment manager.
Be sure to check for the following processes and stop them all:
    • Sametime Gateway Server instances
    • WebSphere® Node Agent
    • WebSphere SIP proxy server instance
    • Deployment manager (DMGR) server
  3. If there are any Java™ processes listed in the operating system processes table, forcefully end them now.
  4. Extract the STGW9.0.1.zip file into the following directory:
    • Windows™: C:\STGW9.0.1
    • Linux™: /home/myuser/STGW9.0.1
  5. On all of the Sametime Gateway (STGW) servers on your environment, locate and take note of all of the shared Jars directories (you have at least one shared Jars directory).
Look in the following locations, where the * character denotes a wildcard and the path represents the WebSphere Application Server installation path (which might be different on your server):
    • Windows: C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\STgateway*\rtc_gw_lib\
    • Linux: /opt/IBM/WebSphere/STgateway*/rtc_gw_lib/
The following example shows four Sametime Gateway shared Jars directories on a Windows server. Your server might not have all of the directories shown here.
    C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\STgateway\rtc_gw_lib\
    C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\STgatewayProxy\rtc_gw_lib\
    C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\STgatewayPrimary\rtc_gw_lib\
    C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\STgatewayProxyStandalone\rtc_gw_lib\
  6. Make backup copies all of the files in each of the Sametime Gateway shared Jars directories; store them in a different location so that they will not be overwritten in the next step.
Note: The upgrade might not include newer versions of some JAR files, so do not delete any of the backed up files. Overwrite old files with newer versions and leave any unchanged files alone.
  7. Copy the new JAR files from the STGW9.0.1 package to each of the shared Jars directories, allowing duplicated files to be overwritten:
    • Windows: C:\STGW9.0.1\Jars
    • Linux: /home/myuser/STGW9.0.1/Jars
