Deploying
IBM® Sametime® consists of a variety of servers and clients, and can be deployed to suit many different environments. The deployment instructions are organized by feature set, beginning with the minimum components that are necessary to support instant messaging, and then expanding the deployment to include features such as audio and video support, and conferencing.
Deploying instant messaging
Instant messaging features are provided primarily by the IBM® Sametime® Community Server, which supports presence, text chats, and two-way phone calls.
Installing Sametime® Advanced Server
The IBM® Sametime® Advanced Server adds features including persistent chat rooms, broadcasts, multiple-file transfers, instant share, and organization tree views to a Sametime deployment.
Configuring a Sametime® Advanced Server
Configure the IBM® Sametime® Advanced Server to communicate with other servers in the deployment and support instant messaging features.

You can control access in IBM® Sametime® Advanced at the application level or at the feature level.
Assigning creators for broadcast communities
In IBM® Sametime® Advanced, administrators can create and manage broadcast communities. Before other users can create or manage a broadcast community, they must be assigned the CommunityCreators role. By default, all authenticated users are assigned the role.

Open Any authenticated Sametime Advanced user can join.	Manager - Can edit or delete a broadcast community. Can edit the manager list.
Private You must be a community member to participate in this community.	Manager - Can edit or delete a broadcast community. Can edit the manager list. Member - Can join the community and can send and receive broadcasts.
Restricted recipients Any authenticated Sametime Advanced user can send a broadcast. You must be a community member to receive a broadcast.	Manager - Can edit or delete a broadcast community. Can edit the manager list. Recipient - Can join the community and can receive broadcasts.
Restricted publishers Any authenticated Sametime Advanced user can receive a broadcast. You must be a community member to send a broadcast.	Manager - Can edit or delete a broadcast community. Can edit the manager list. Publisher - Can join the community and can send broadcasts.
