This section provides information on migrating data from an earlier release to Sametime 12.
Planning for migration to Sametime 12
Sametime 12 requires a new product install and migration of data from your previous version. Do not uninstall the previous version until the V12 installation is finalized and working as expected.

    Sametime 12 requires a new product install and migration of data from your previous version. Do not uninstall the previous version until the V12 installation is finalized and working as expected.
  - Upgrading to a new version or applying a fixpack
    Newer versions and fix packs contain new features and fixes. You do not need to remove your current Sametime 12 installation when upgrading to a new version.

About this task

If the older Sametime deployment is not configured for LDAP, the contact lists must be converted using the Stnamechange utility before migrating. The Stnamechange utility is not available on Sametime 12. Run the utility on Sametime 9, 10, or 11 before migrating.

For previous Sametime versions, see the Changing user names topic for the version that is being migrated to Sametime 12.

The LDAP task is used to convert to LDAP. Run the task on the older Sametime Community server.
