Planning for the Sametime System Console

The IBM® Sametime® System Console is a browser-based application that resides in the IBM WebSphere® Application Server's Integrated Solutions Console. Every deployment starts with an LDAP directory, DB2®, and the Sametime System Console.

Most servers must be installed using the Sametime System Console. Some components such as the Sametime Gateway Server are not installed through the Sametime System Console, but are manually registered with Sametime System Console and so they can be administered through the Sametime System Console. The only exceptions are the Sametime Bandwidth Manager and the Sametime TURN Server.

Deploy your LDAP directory server and DB2 server before you install the Sametime System Console.

Use the Sametime System Console to create deployment plans that simplify server installations by allowing you to fill in settings in advance. Each deployment plan includes a guided activity with step-by-step instructions. The guided activities cover the majority of the deployment scenarios in your plan.
