Viewing logs: message, trace, and account

Admins can view and manage the display of message logs, trace logs, and account logs.

Message and trace logs are stored in files on the SafeLinx Server system. Account records are stored either in a relational DB or in a file on the SafeLinx Server. To display these logs from the SafeLinx Administrator, click the Tasks tab, then click View SafeLinx Server logs. When you click the log you want to view, wizard panels are displayed to help you define how you want to view the logs.

You can choose to copy the log from the SafeLinx Server to the SafeLinx Administrator as a local file. You can also view the most recent entries from the log in a dynamic console window. To view recent entries, you specify the number of lines from the log or database that you would want to display. After the specified number of lines are displayed, the console window is dynamically updated with new entries to the log.

For accounting records, you can additionally filter records to view log entries:
  • By user ID
  • During specific intervals of time
  • By type of traffic
