Setting SafeLinx Administrator message log options

You can choose to direct SafeLinx Administrator messages to either a message log file or to a console. You can specify the level of messages that are directed to each.

You can direct SafeLinx Administrator messages to a message log file and to a console. In the .wgcfg directory relative to the home directory of the administrator who started SafeLinx Administrator, the message log file is named MessageLog1.txt

When the buffer of a message log information is filed, MessageLog1.txt is renamed to MessageLog2.txt and logging continues to be directed to the MessageLog1.txt location.

You can specify the level of messages that are directed to the message log file and to the console. Select from the following message levels: informational, warning, and error.

To specify the level of messages that are directed to the message log file: Click Options > SafeLinx Administrator Message Log..., then click Write to the message log file. Click the level of messages that you want logged to the message log file.

To specify the level of messages that are directed to the console: Click Options > SafeLinx Administrator Console Output..., then click the level of messages that you want logged on to the console. The message logging must be enabled to the message log file before message logging displays on the console. For additional information about displaying the console for SafeLinx Administrator running on Windows, see Setting SafeLinx Administrator console output.

By default, each time SafeLinx Administrator stops and then starts again, the message log begins recording information at the start of the log file, overwriting previous log information. To specify that new log information is appended to the end of the message log file each time SafeLinx Administrator starts, clear the Reset the message log file check box.

To keep a backup of the message log file before it is reset, click Backup the existing message log file. The next time SafeLinx Administrator starts, the previous message log file is renamed to Message Log.txt.bak and includes the current date and time.
